Obituary of James E. Eddy

James E. Eddy, 93, of Fairmont, WV, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on April 30, 2023. He was born December 6, 1929 in Hagans, WV, a son of the late William C. and Della (Cox) Eddy. The majority of his career consisted of him building a cable company that supplied cable service to the outlying areas of Fairmont, formally known as James E. Eddy TV Systems. In later years, it was incorporated and known as E&E Cable Services which he owned, operated, and retired from in February 1990. He was also a 50+ year member of the Acacia Lodge #157 A.F.&A.M. and served two terms as a Past Master. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home with family and friends to WVU sporting events and NASCAR races. He loved his farm life, and above all else, spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, of 70 years, Bonetta Porter Eddy, his two children, son, James Richard and wife Debra Eddy, and daughter, Sharon Eddy Fleming. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Drew and Stephanie Eddy, Heather and Adam Lipscomb, Leah and Justin Famoso, and Holly and Matthew Rowe, as well as his eight great-grandchildren, Shyanne Rowe, Addison Lipscomb, Hadleigh Lipscomb, James (JW) Lipscomb. Dean Eddy, Alice Eddy, Clara Famoso, and Lyla Famoso. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three siblings, George M. Eddy, Dessie Eddy Armstrong, and Robert P. Eddy, as well as his mother-in-law, Lavada Pethtel Porter, and his sister-in-law, Delores Porter Gross. The Eddy family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Rd, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday May 3, 2023 from 1P.M until 8 P.M. and on Thursday May 4, 2023 from 10A.M until 11 A.M. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11A.M. with Pastor Bill Toothman officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
