Obituary of John Wilbert Dougal, Sr.

John Wilbert Dougal, 71, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 20, 1951 in Fairmont, WV a son of Darrel E. Dougal, Sr. and the late Florence A. Porter Dougal. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Terri Riffle Dougal. John was a 1968 graduate of East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State University where he studied Accounting before entering the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Hawaii where he served as a Sargent and was an administrative specialist. John was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and retired in 2015 as a coal miner with the Robinson Run Coal Mine with over 30 years of service. John loved to fish with his buddies in the Elkins area, and deer hunt locally. He and his wife had enjoyed league bowling at Mid-City bowling alley for many years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all variety of sports, including WVU and the Pittsburgh Pirates. His greatest joy, was spending time with his son and grandchildren. John is survived by his son, John W. and his wife McKenzie Dougal, Jr. of Waynesburg, PA, his grandchildren, Skyler Swartz and Eva Dougal, his siblings: Cheryl and David Haymond, Dolores and Chuck Brenneman, Darrel E. Dougal, Jr. all of Fairmont, Debra and Kenneth Gregory of Shinnston, , and Brenda and Delbert Lindsey of Lumberport, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family had entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Steet, Fairmont. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 2PM until 8PM and on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Thursday and 11AM with Pastor Edward Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
