Obituary of Carolyn Rae (Phillips) Phillips
Carolyn Rae (Phillips) Phillips, 81, of Green Bank, WV formerly of Fairmont, WV passed away at home on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, with her family by her side.
She and her twin sister Karen were born at Keyser, WV on June 21, 1941 to the late D. Raymond Phillips and late Rosalie (Armentrout) Phillips both formerly of Fairmont, WV and Elkins, WV. She owned and operated the Boyer Motel, Restaurant and Campground in Boyer, WV from 1977-1994.
She graduated from East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State College.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Fredrick Phillips, Jr., brother-in-law Robert S. Whinnie (Karen), and brother-in-law Joseph Conners (Janet).
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Amy Lehmann and husband Richard of Frostburg, MD, George Raymond (Jody) Phillips and wife Pattarin Chinakul of Scott Depot, WV, and Karen Murphy and husband Mike of Boyer, WV; five granddaughters, Amanda and Brent Meixsell of York, PA, Julianna and Cody Taylor of St. Albans, WV, Michelle Murphy of Hillsboro, WV, Melissa and Dalton Walker of Hillsboro, WV and Jasmine Phillips of Morgantown, WV; and five great grandchildren, Bryce and Miles Meixsell, Josi and Ari Taylor, and Huk Walker.
Also surviving are her twin sister, Karen Whinnie of Fairmont, WV, sister Janet Connors of Hillsborough, NC, brother Dr. Danny Phillips and wife Sandy of Roxsboro, NC; two nephews, Robert “Bobby” Whinnie of Fairmont, WV and Dr. Christopher Phillips of Paducah, KY; and one niece, Melissa Haines of Chapel Hill, NC.
The Phillips family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Julian Rittenhouse presiding.
