Obituary of Martha Lee Summers Alltop

Martha Lee Summers Alltop, 98, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 26, 1924 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Walter David Summers & Glenola V. Goode Summers. She was preceded in death by her husband William Harold Alltop. She is survived by two sons and two daughter in laws William David Alltop & his wife Brenda and James Madison Alltop & his wife Tina, four grandchildren Nina Cowger, Jeanie Marie Loughery, Charity Dawn Wendling, & Heather Louise Luzadder, six great grandchildren Caitlyn Wendling, Colton Wendling, Christina Wendling, Charlee Wendling, Clay Gifford, & Cayden Gifford and several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Alltop was a retired cook from the East Park Elementary School for the Marion County Board of Education and a former clerk for the Stone & Thomas Department Store in Fairmont, WV. She was a member since 1938, at the Baptist Temple Church in Fairmont, WV and a member of the Ladies Mission Circle. Martha was a 1943 Graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #34 Fairmont and a member of the Epithian Sisters of Hope, Temple #71 Fairmont. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, craftwork and collecting doll babies. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers and hospice. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from10 a.m. – 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Allan Copenhaver officiating.
