Obituary of Edward Gale Hoy
Mr. Edward Gale Hoy, 78 years of age passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born January 14, 1945 the son of the late Edward Gordon and Margaret Ann Ice Hoy.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Holley Hoy. They had celebrated fifty-six years of a loving marriage. He is also survived by a son Edward Hoy Jr. and his companion Dara Britton of the Boothsville community; two daughters Beverly Smith and her husband Brian and Beth Tucker and her husband Pat both of the Boothsville community; four granddaughters Breanna Exline of Flemington, WV, Jenna Stinson and her husband Cody of Buckhannon, WV, Haley Gallo and her husband Joseph of Fairmont, WV and Hattie Tucker and her companion J.R. DeFazio of the Boothsville community; one great granddaughter Macie Stinson; one brother Ronald Hoy and his wife Debbie of Fairmont, WV; four sisters Terry Crouso of Fairmont, WV, Alma Parrish and her husband Tom of Fairmont, WV, Judy Slepsky and her husband John of Port Charlotte, FL and Mary Lou Hill of Texas. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Richard, Thomas and an infant brother Donnie and two sisters Linda Sawiski and Peggy Zemonick.
After high school he began a long career of working to provide for his wife and family. He retired with several years of service from Martinka Mines/Patriot Coal Company. He was a faithful member of Boothsville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the peace he found at his camp on the Elk River. He made many memories there fishing and hunting with his family and friends.
He took great pride in the loving home he and his wife made in the Boothsville community. Gardening became a hobby and he shared his produce with family and friends. From his meticulous yard and flowers to keeping his vehicles spotless, he enjoyed his retirement years. He will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Wednesday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at noon with Reverend Dr. Michael Richards presiding. The interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
