Obituary of James "Scott" Goodwin

James "Scott" Goodwin of Fairmont passed away peacefully at Ruby Memorial Hospital, on Monday, February 6, 2022, surrounded by his entire family. Born Oct 12, 1982 at Fairmont General Hospital. Scott was 40. He is survived by his parents, David Walker and Terri Walker of Fairmont, and Jim Goodwin of Fairmont. He is also survived by his siblings, Jack Walker, Grace Walker and Lucy Walker, all of Fairmont, and Jay Goodwin of Martin's Ferry. His Grandfather, James W Goodwin. His Aunts and Uncles: Scott and Vicky Jarvis of Mannington, Tracy Potesta of Fairmont, Terry and Roger Pratt of Fairmont, Randy Goodwin of Fairmont, Ruby Walker of Jake's Run Community, Rob and Joyce Bennett of Jake's Run Community and Nancy and Jeff Facemire. His Cousins: Mandy Potesta Stover, Nicole Jarvis Keener, Emily and Lexi Potesta, Eli Jarvis, Justin Bennett, Emily Bennett Dilullo and Andy and Daniel Facemire. Also, his beloved band of Tik-Tok friends, whom he always loved and had to keep him company. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Darlyne Jarvis, his paternal grandmother Rosalie Goodwin, his little sister, Taylor Goodwin, his uncle, Rick Potesta, his Mom Mini and Pop Pop, Bob and Mini Walker, and his great aunts, Ruth and Mary Walker of Jake's Run Community. Scott loved to hunt and fish, and walk the streets of Fairmont, just to enjoy life. He played baseball and church league basketball for many years, was a cub scout, participated in Special Olympics, faithfully followed the WVU Mountaineers and dearly loved working at the Marion County Op Shop. Scott faced many challenges in his life, but he never viewed things that way. He was the richest person we knew, because his life was never tangled in drama or anger. He lived his simple life, touched so many more hearts than we will ever know, and left an enormous soul print in the world. We love you, Scott. Special heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fairmont Health and Rehab. You were his Covid family when we could not be. Also, to the entire staffs of Fairmont Medical Center, Ruby Memorial Hospital and United Hospital Center: The care you provided gave of the gift of Scott being with us for so many more years. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 7 p.m. with Pastor Rob Bennett officiating.
