Obituary of Corliss David Brookover
Corliss David Brookover, 69, of Brookover Dr., Rivesville, WV (Hoodsville Community), passed away early Tuesday morning in Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born April 14, 1947 in Fairmont, WV, son of Corliss P. and Ruby Carpenter Brookover of Hoodsville Community. Mr. Brookover was a graduate of Rivesville High School. He retired as a heavy equipment operator, working with several companies in Virginia. He earlier operated his own business in this area, David Brookover Excavating. He also served as a coal miner with Federal no. 2, Blacksville no. 1, and Joy Manufacturing. David enjoyed farm work, all animals, especially his buddy, skippy, and truly was an avid reader. Survivors also include a daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Tom Sweet of Fort Worth, TX, a grandchild, Caroline Sweet of Fort Worth, TX, an uncle, Paul Russell Duskey of Blacksville, WV, an aunt Shirley Conway of Parkersburg, WV, his former wife and longtime friend, Joann Brookover of California, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Lawler of Fairmont, WV, a brother-in-law and his wife, Charlie and Nancy Lawler of Fairmont, WV, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many special friends; Russ and Deloris Kennedy of Barrackville, WV, Pete and Stanis Martin of Hoodsville Community, Kepper and Rodney Martin of Hoodsville Community, Bob and Neila Berry of Rivesville, WV, and the Joe Urse Family of Fairmont, WV. Mr. Brookover has chosen cremation services. Family and friends will be greeted from 12noon until 2pm on Sunday, 10-23-2016, at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper St., Rivesville, WV.
