Obituary of Jaunita L.Brady Ross Kemp
Jaunita L. Brady Ross Kemp, 96, of Core, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in her home. She was born May 8, 1926 in Vesta, PA a daughter of the late Dave Brady and the late Katherine B. Cook Brady Riffle Crites. Jaunita was preceded in death by her husband George Kemp, as well as her former husband Willard L. Ross.
Mrs. Kemp attended the Hagens Christian Church and was a lifelong resident of the Hagens Community. She worked in three different glass factories in Morgantown throughout her life, and later opened her own shop where she did glass etching and cutting, as well as sand blasting of glass.
Her great love and her second job during life was farming. She was raised on a farm and continued to work the land throughout her life. Jaunita could build a fence, re-roof a building, feed and muck-out for many farm animals. She enjoyed hatching pheasant eggs for release, she planted and tended her last garden at the age of 94. She loved working and keeping busy, she never let the dust settle under her feet.
Mrs. Kemp is survived by her children: Mary Ann (Warren) Higginbotham Darnell of Core, WV, Betty Jean (Tom) Stuchell of Morgantown, WV, Willard Lee (Dana) Ross, Jr. of Rivesville, WV, Charles W. (Lynette) Ross of Grant Town, WV, and William W. (Kathy) Ross of Hagens Community, fourteen grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Jaunita was preceded in death by nine siblings: Watson James Brady, Walter Morris, Oakie (Lola) Riffle, Leon (Naomi) Riffle, Christine Riffle, Audrey McCormick, Macel Crites, Carol Lightcap, and Lena Brady, her two sons-in-law: Benny Higginbotham and Tom Stuchell, and four of her grandchildren: Brett, Matthew, Chad, and April.
The family would like to thank Hospice for the special loving care they provided to Mrs. Kemp over the past several weeks.
The family has entrusted the arrangements for Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville. Friends and family may visit on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM, and on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Isaac Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at the Arnettsville Cemetery in Arnettsville, WV.
