Obituary of Raleigh V. Royster
Raleigh V. Royster, 88, of Pleasant Valley passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He was born in Troy, WV on October 26, 1933, a son of the late Raleigh and Alice Fair Royster.
Raleigh is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Lake Royster; sons, Thomas Franklin Royster of Boonsboro, MD and Douglas Aaron Royster (Adrienne) of Maurepas, LA; grandchildren, Amanda and Erin; great-grandchildren, Athen, Hunter, and J.D.; and sisters, Patty Richards (Graydon Edward) of Marshall, MO, Sid Lynch of Summersville, and Lu Rhoades (Robert) of Bridgeport.
In addition to his parents, Raleigh was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Royster.
Raleigh was a 1951 graduate of Troy High School, a 1956 graduate of Glenville State University, and a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked as a claims specialist for State Farm Insurance Agency and was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, Gilmer County Lodge # 1178 A.F. & A.M., Bigelow Chapter #4 of Weston A.F. & A.M., York Rite, and Eastern Star Chapter 90. Raleigh enjoyed reading, camping, and traveling.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jackie Chambers.
