Obituary of Hubert Grubb, Jr.

Hubert Grubb Jr., 87, of Barrackville, West Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in the Tygart Center Genesis Healthcare Center, Fairmont, WV. He was born November 9, 1934 in McCurdysville, WV a son of the late Hubert C. Grubb and Estell C. Morris Grubb. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Faye Hurt Grubb. Mr. Grubb was the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Donald K. Grubb, J. Calvin Grubb and C. Ray Grubb, 2 sisters Catherine L. Brummage and Angenora (Angie) R. Tennant, and a brother in law James Hurt. He is survived by his nieces and nephews Donna Lee (Randy) Mick, Debbie K. Grubb, Darlene (Dennis) Pride, Jim (Ingrid) Grubb, Cheryl Ann Grubb, Robert (Lois) Brummage, Linda Haines, Clifford (Michelle) Grubb, Janice (Ken) Zraik, Kevin (Tammy) Grubb, Judy Riley, Danny (Mendy) Tennant, and David (Kerry) Tennant. Also, great, great, great, great nieces and nephews, and by his in laws Thelma “Patty” (Ronald) Wolfe & family, Janet (Billy – deceased) Kennedy & family, families of the late John (Ruth) Hurt and the late Frances (William) McKinney. Mr. Grubb worked as a machinist for the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant. He was a member of the Barrackville United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and made repairs around the building. He was a graduate of Rivesville High School. Mr. Grubb proudly served in the 101st Air Borne in the United States Army. He was a member of Fairmont Lodge No. 9 A.F.& A.M. and a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason in Morgantown, WV. He also owned Hubbie’s Hobby’s where he repaired and built clocks. He also made and sold candles. Mr. Grubb enjoyed working in his garage making furniture, shelves, puzzles, ect… He always liked having his friends come by his shop and sitting around his potbelly stove solving all the world’s problems. He enjoyed family gatherings and eating good food. He especially loved seeing all the “little tumble bugs” running around. Mr. Grubb enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting at his camp in Parsons, WV. He and his wife also like square dancing together. He had a big heart and was always willing to help everyone out. The family would like to thank the staff of the Tygart Center Genesis Healthcare and West Virginia Caring for their Kindness and compassion they showed to Uncle Junior in the last days of his life. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Barrackville United Methodist Church, 401 Pike Street, Barrackvile, WV 26559 with Reverend Stephanie Bennett officiating. Full Military Honors will be held for the family after the service. A private committal service will be held in the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, WV at a later time.
