Obituary of Rose Mary Liberto

Rose Mary Gearde Liberto, 92, of Rivesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born October 13, 1929 in Rivesville, WV a daughter of the late Frank Gearde, Sr. and Mary Greco Gearde. Rose was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Fairmont and the former Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Rivesville. She was a graduate of Rivesville High School and the WV Career College with a degree in business management. Rose retired from WV Career College with over 40 years of service as the admissions director. Rose had a career during the day, but then came home and worked within her home all evening. She loved to cook for her family and friends and often gave much of her hard work away, including her meatballs, stuffed peppers, and banana bread among other goodies. She adored her children and grandchildren, often centering her schedule around their activities. Serving as co-matriarch of her extended family, Rose was very much involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews, often speaking with them daily. Rose is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Marie Liberto of Rivesville, and Michelle Anne Garcia of Fairmont, her grandchildren: Jeffrey Michael, Leighanne and her wife Cathy Michael, Jenna and her husband Josh Arnold, and Joel Garcia and his companion Allison Svecnik, and her great-grandchildren: Jared Michael, Brennan Michael, Olyvia Michael, Braylon Garcia, Gianna Arnold, Grayson Arnold, and Lincoln Arnold. She is also survived by her sister, Jospehine Pobega of Rivesville, her former sons-in-law, Clyde Michael and Robert Garcia, close family friends: Mike and Sherri Hayes, Clara Caputo Hendricks, JoAnn Mazak, Debbie Yelich, Patty Aversa, and Mary Owen, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Elizabeth Gearde Husty, Joseph Gearde, Agnes Gearde Davoli, Frank Gearde, Jr. and David Victor Gearde. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. Pallbearers serving will be: Robert Garcia, Joel Garcia, Joey Gearde, Jeffrey Michael, Mike Hayes, Josh Arnold, Brennan Michael, and Braylon Garcia. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 6PM until 9PM and on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11AM with Deacon David Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont.
