Obituary of Delmar Ray Timms

Delmar Ray Timms, 92, of Wheeling, West Virginia and formerly of Fairmont, WV passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 in the Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV after a short illness. He was born December 1, 1929 in Fairmont, WV the son of the late John Henry Timms and Ramah A. Carpenter Timms. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Eleanor Jean Donham Timms of Wheeling, WV. He is survived by two sons, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. Mr. Timms was a retired electrician for the Philips Lighting Company in Fairmont with over 40 years of service and a member of the I.U.E. Local 627 Electrician Union. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont. He was a 1948 graduate of East Fairmont High School, attended Fairmont State College, and the West Virginia Electrician Licensing School. Mr. Timms was a member of the American Legion Post 17, the Fairmont Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 294, and the Moose Lodge No. 9. He enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida, bike riding, walking, sporting events, and concerts. The family has entrusted arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. There will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private graveside committal service will be held for the family in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fairmont, WV with Fr. Kishore Babu Varaparla and Sister Stella Cronauer, C.S.J.
