Obituary of Robert William Rosenberger
Mr. Robert William Rosenberger passed away at his residence on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the age of 97. He was born October 18, 1924 in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late Minnis Clay “M.C.” and Ona Lee Tharp Rosenberger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Kathryn Rosenberger.
He is survived by two daughters Patricia Kay Stout and her husband Douglas; Lou Ann Keener and her husband Allan both of Fairmont, WV; four grandchildren Molly Kay Davis and her husband Damien, Aaron Douglas Stout and his wife Rebecca, Scott Allan Keener and his wife Amber, and Robert Camden Keener and his wife Carrie; six great grandchildren Max Davis, Maggie Davis, Miles Davis, William Keener, Elie Stout, and Mira Stout; and a long-time friend and companion Lillian Brady. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Jack and Edward Rosenberger and one sister Mary Jo Rich.
Bob was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State College. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He served in Patton’s 5th Army in Normandy, France during World War II.
He furthered his education by attending Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He retired with 37 years of service from Monongahela Power Company. He worked in sub-station electrical maintenance.
Bob was a proud member of Acacia Lodge No. 157 A.F.&A.M. in Fairmont and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason from the Valley of Wheeling.
Bob’s Christian faith was important to him and his family. He was a lifelong member of The Baptist Temple Church, where he had been a trustee, deacon, and served on various committees and boards. He taught Sunday School for several years for the Carl Cain Class and previously sang in The Baptist Temple Men’s Chorus.
He was very proud of his family. His happiest times were when family got together to celebrate one another, whether Sunday afternoons at Rock Lake or in Fairmont. In his retirement years, he enjoyed wood working and crafts with his wife. They camped with family and friends in West Virginia, Amish country, and wintered in Florida. He will be missed greatly by family and friends.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to The Baptist Temple. The family would like to thank the support and love given their father by care givers Ada, Sheila, and Della and WV Caring Hospice.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Monday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM and at The Baptist Temple, 430 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV on Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. The funeral will be celebrated in the church on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Allan Copenhaver presiding. The interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum. The United States Army and Marion County Honor Guard will provide military rites at the graveside. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
