Obituary of James Edward Tennant

James Edward Tennant, 90, of Fairmont passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. He was born in Fairmont on September 30, 1931, the son of the late Arlie and Wanda Bradley Tennant. James is survived by his grandchildren, Jason Offutt and his wife Lara and Julie Offutt and his companion, Betty Sheets. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Karolyn Neely Tennant and his daughter, Donna Tennant. James was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and had been a member of Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and had worked as a typesetter for the Times West Virginian. James was a jack of all trades and enjoyed hiking, being outdoors, and going to the camp on the Tygart River. The family requests memorial contributions be made in James’ memory to the Marion County Honor Guard, VFW Post #7048, 1310 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10 a.m. A committal service will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover with full military rites conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council.
