Obituary of Clyde Jefferson Cottrell

Clyde Jefferson Cottrell, 91, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at his home. He was born in Euclid, WV on January 8, 1931, son of the late Dawson and Roxie Rider Cottrell. Clyde is survived by his daughters, Janice Lee Villers and her husband Ronald and Lori Lynn Wisenbaler and her husband Roger; four grandchildren, Ashley, Tanner, Hunter and Jay Wisenbaler; two step-grandchildren Jessica and Ashley “Nikie” Wisenbaler and a brother, Hampton Cottrell. In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Vance Cottrell; brother, Lowell Cottrell; and sister, Opal Cottrell. Clyde was a 1949 graduate of Fairview High School and worked as a sheet metal worker for AFL-CIO for 55 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fairmont where he was very active as a trustee, teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and with many mission trips. Clyde also served as a volunteer at Fairmont General Hospital. The family would like to acknowledge Kelli and Trish from WVU Hospice for the loving care given their father. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Clyde’s memory to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1604 Morgantown Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554. Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Friday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The funeral will be celebrated in the church on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Larry Barkley presiding. The entombment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. The United States Navy and the Marion County Honor Guard will provide military rites at the cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
