Obituary of Nancy Carolyn Merrifield

Nancy Carolyn Roberts Perkins Merrifield, 72, of Rivesville, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born August 4, 1949 in Parkersburg, WV a daughter of the late Lona O. and Loma C. Spencer Perkins. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stanley W. Merrifield. Mrs. Merrifield was a 1967 graduate of Shinnston High School, as well as a 1968 graduate of Fairmont Business College. She was a member of the Rivesville United Methodist Church where her husband served as minister for 18 years. As a minister’s wife, Nancy was very involved in many of the church activities over the years. She was the founder of the Shepherd’s Love Food Pantry with the Rivesville United Methodist Church. Nancy retired from West Virginia University in 2014 with over 32 years as a program assistant with the OLLIE lifelong learners program. In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her children, Marci and Mark Tapping of Bournemouthe, England, Todd S. Merrifield of Rivesville, WV, and Buffi L. and Greg Evans of Mt. Morris, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zacklyn Lee Merrifield, Whitney Brianna Merrifield, Isabella Tapping, and Olivia Tapping, her great-grandchildren, Grayson Charles Gober and Oakley Preston Merrifield, and her sister-in-law Sally H. Roberts of Chattanooga, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her birth parents, Elmer and Louise Roberts, and her brother, Homer James Roberts. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV.
