Obituary of Alma Jean Bell

Alma Jean Bell, 78, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Stonerise of Bridgeport. She was born February 24, 1944 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Shirley and Margaret Bailey. Mrs. Bell was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston. She worked for over 15 years with St. Mary’s Hospital in the housekeeping department. She had previously worked for many years with Stone and Thomas department store as the head of the lingerie department. Alma was a dedicated worker to her occupation and spent many hours on the job. She had previously owned and operated Bell’s Etc. flower shop because of her “green-thumb” and her love of plants. She enjoyed tending her home garden, loved spending time with her grandchildren, as well as with her two close friends, JoAnn Leech and Carol Wilson. Her beloved feline friend, Taco, brought her much joy and companionship. Alma is survived by her daughters, Kimberly and Robert Steele of Bridgeport, and Stephanie Welsh of Clarksburg, her grandchildren: Kelsey Barner, Hunter and Bridgette Lewis, Zachary Eagle, and Corey Welsh, as well as her great-grandchildren: Kane Lewis, Ella Eagle, and Ezekiel Eagle. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her eleven brothers and sisters, as well as her close friend and former husband, W. Warren Bell The family has entrusted her arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. In keeping with her wishes, private cremation service will take place.
