Obituary of Rosalee Phillips Nixon

Mrs. Rosalee Virginia Nixon, 91 years of age of Middletown Road, Fairmont, WV passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Fairmont Tygart Center. She was born May 21, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Lula Ann Pitzer Phillips. She is survived by her husband Evert Carl Nixon. They had celebrated seventy-two years of marriage. She is also survived by four daughters Beverly Winemiller and husband Richard, Sharon Hart and husband Danny, Judy Glaspell and husband Tim and Cindy Stover and husband Roger; one son Everett Carl Nixon Jr.; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Patty Phillips. Rosalee was a 1949 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She worked at Woolworth a local Five and Dime Store during her senior year and when she was first married. She would later train to be a CNA at Fairmont General Hospital and worked there for several years. She retired at the age of 62 working with her husband as owner and bookkeeper of Nixon Trucking. She was an avid bowler with the Powder Puff Bowling League and Mixed Bowling League in the Fairmont area. She earned many bowling trophies for league high games and high series. She loved the competition of bowling at the West Virginia State Tournament. She also enjoyed working puzzles. She was a member of Boothsville United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV on Monday from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Orville Wright presiding. The interment will follow in the Clermont Cemetery.
