Obituary of Elizabeth Ann "Bepe" Falkenstein

Elizabeth Ann “Bepe” Falkenstein died Friday, June 10, 2022 at her residence. She was born March 5, 1959 a daughter of the late Robert E. Schmidt Sr. and Doris Ruth Hurd Schmidt. She is survived by her loving husband Eric Kent Falkenstein of Fairmont, WV. Elizabeth was a 1977 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and a graduate of Fairmont State College. She earned her Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. She was a member of the Fairmont Ski Club on the Tygart River. She loved boating, golfing, knitting, and being with friends. Elizabeth lived her life to the fullest which included skydiving trips and earning her pilot’s license. She worked for 30 years as a Lab Tech at West Virginia University Animal Science Department and retired in 2017. She was dedicated to helping her parents and her Aunt Dorothy Hurd. Elizabeth is survived by her stepson Shawn Falkenstein and his companion Liz, two brothers and three sister’s in laws Robert E. “Mole” & Kay Schmidt, John & Rhonda Schmidt and Betty Schmidt, a sister and brother in law Dotti & Allen Fisher, ten nieces and nephews Brian Carr, Mike Schmidt and his wife Brenda, Louis Schmidt and his wife Sunny, Loren Schmidt and his wife Janet, Robby Schmidt and his wife Shannon, Lori Schmidt-Jones, John Ryan Schmidt and his wife Ashley, and Melissa Schmidt Northey and her husband Jeff, many great nieces and nephews, sister in law Janice Falkenstein and brother in law Rick Falkenstein. She was preceded in death by her Aunt Dorothy Hurd, a brother Loren Schmidt, and a sister Bonnie Marie Schmidt. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. The committal service will follow in the Linn Cemetery.
