Obituary of Janice Rae Amos

Janice Rae Amos, 68, of Brighton, MI, passed away on May 24, 2022 at her home peacefully with family and friends. Jan was born June 18, 1953 in Fairmont, WV, the daughter of the late Albert C. and Frances L. Amos. Jan was preceded in death by her brother, James Jeffery in 2007 and her parents in 2011 and 2019. Jan was a 1971 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, 1976 ME graduate of General Motors Institute (now Kettering) in Flint, MI, and 1981 MBA graduate of Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, OH. She was a member of Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brighton. Jan cherished a lifelong relationship with her sisters, Faith and Holly. Jan enjoyed her seven nephews and niece, especially proud of their families and independent lives. Jan was hired by General Motors as a cooperative engineering student in 1971 at New Departure Hyatt Bearings Bristol, CT as the first female engineering coop for NDH. Moving in 1976 to NDH Sandusky, OH, Jan went from Plant Engineering to Purchasing to ultimately Manufacturing Manager with Quality and Manufacturing assignments also at GM Hydramatic, Toledo, OH over a 35 years career with GM and Delphi. With her husband of 46 years, Dave Schoewe, Jan enjoyed gardening, hiking, biking, yoga, reading her WSJ, and traveling including a trip to Antarctica and an around the world cruise. Jan was a member of the Brighton Garden Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 8401 Colesville Road, Suite 200, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Friends and family may visit and attend service at Keehn-Griffin Funeral Home, 706 W Main St Brighton, MI on Saturday, May 28, 1 pm until 6 pm with a service at 6 pm. Jan will then return to her home town. Friends and family may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Tuesday, May 31, from 2pm until 8pm. Jan will lie in state on Wednesday, June 1, at the Monumental United Methodist Church from 10am until 11am. The funeral will be held in the church on Wednesday at 11am with Reverend Stephanie Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at the Monumental Cemetery.
