Obituary of Sharlea Ann Hacker Deavers

On Friday, May 20, 2022, Sharlea Ann Hacker Deavers was welcomed into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ. Ann was born on March 11, 1939 to the late Harold N. Hacker and Julia E. Myers Hacker. She is survived by the love of her life “Ted” Theodore G. Deavers. She walked into his life September 7, 1954 the first day of Biology class and sat down beside him. His response was are you going to sit there, hers was yes I don’t see anyone else setting here and she stayed in his life for 67 years. They were married May 16, 1959. Ann is survived by their son, Gary P. Deavers; daughter, Julia Lynne Deavers Robinson and her partner and caregiver, Nancy Seaton of Frederick, MD. Ann was preceded in death by a daughter, Francis Elaine Deavers in 1971 at birth; her grandparents, Clyde Hacker and Leafie Hacker and Wirt Myers and Senea Myers. Ann was educated at East Fairmont Central School and East Fairmont High School class of 1957. Upon graduation, she worked at Wollard Auto Parts as a bookkeeper till the birth of her son Gary in 1964. She was a stay at home mom raising Gary and Julie and Ted. She was mom to a lot of kids in her neighborhood. She served her Lord Jesus at the Baptist Temple, First Southern Baptist, Trinity Assembly of God, Everlasting Covenant Church, New Hope Four Square Church and City Church Fairmont. She was a volunteer for the Marion County Meals On Wheels Program, enjoyed serving her family and friends, cooking, sewing, and reading her Bible and serving at church. The family would like to thank the staff at Genesis Healthcare Pierpont for their kindness and loving care. Memorial contributions may be made to City Church, 216 Monroe Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 3-8 p.m. and Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Roger Thrower officiating. In accordance with her wishes, Ann’s body will be cremated following the funeral service. A private committal service will be held at a later time in the Maplewood Cemetery in Kingwood, WV.
