Obituary of Geneva G. Osbourn

Geneva G. Osbourn, the daughter of Ione and George Godfrey was born on October 15, 1934 in Sutton, WV and passed from this life on May 18, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Susan Walker, in Morgantown, WV. Geneva was an avid reader of her Bible and attended the River Apostolic Church in Morgantown where she previously volunteered her time every Monday out of the goodness of her heart. She was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother, a true friend and a terrific aunt to all of us who knew her. She loved bowling and was on a league for many years, but family was of the utmost importance to her. Geneva was in a group of ladies that made quilts for nursing homes, shut ins, children’s hospitals, the Ronald McDonald’s House, and third world countries. Also, for anyone who just needed to know someone cared. She was married to Claude “Skinny” Osbourn who was the love of her life until his passing in 1991. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Walker of Morgantown and Geneva Ann Jones of Columbus, OH. Six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a brother, Olen Godfrey, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ione and George Godfrey, her sisters, Lorraine Godfrey and Zela Wilson, her brothers, Don Elbert, George Jr., and Kenneth Godfrey and two nephews, Galen Godfrey and Kevin Wilson, and her beloved husband, Claude Osbourn. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd & Jasper St., Rivesville, WV 26588, on Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Rodger White officiating.
