Obituary of Kathleen Margaret "Rose" Hayes

Kathleen Margaret “Rose” Hayes, 91, of Rivesville passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 10, 1930, daughter of the late William and Mami Greathouse. Rose is survived by her son, Tim Hayes of Rivesville and nieces, Hillary Palmer, Judy Colvin, and Cindy Keeling. The family would like to thank her friends, Bruce, Butch, Judy, and Vi. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Hayes and her eight siblings. Rose was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and a member of Rivesville United Methodist Church. She worked as a school cook at Rivesville and Dunbar for over 25 years, as a cook at the Fairmont Field Club, and cooked many dinners for the Rivesville Lions Club. Rose loved going to flea markets and yard sales. She enjoyed collecting collectables and being with her cat, Lindsay and her dogs. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Rose’s memory to the Marion County Humane Society, PO Box 905, Fairmont, WV 26555. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd & Jasper St., Rivesville, WV 26588, on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 12 noon. A committal service will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
