Obituary of Kerri Ann Carpenter Nichols

Kerri Ann Carpenter Nichols, 53, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born July 18, 1968 in Fall River, MA, a daughter of Roger and Mary Parsons Carpenter. Kerri was a Christian by faith. She was a 1988 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School as well as a graduate of the Institute Technical School in Institute, WV. She formerly worked with the Department of Natural Resources as an administration data entry specialist. Kerri was a past representative of the C&P Telephone Company in the Special Olympics and was awarded the Marion County Easter Seal Child in 1972. She loved any outdoor activities including boating and swimming, and adored any and all animals. She enjoyed her daily word search puzzles, shopping with family, playing card games, computer surfing, and lively debating politics. In addition to her parents Kerri is survived by her companion David “D.J.” Layman of Fairmont, her brother Eric and Genie Carpenter of Fairmont, her sister Tammi and Tom Pickens of Pleasant Valley, as well as her nieces and nephews, Erica Carpenter, Andrew and Scarlett Carpenter, Sarah Carpenter, Caleb Carpenter, Jordan Pickens, and Joshua Pickens, all of Fairmont. Kerri is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 12 noon until 8PM and on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 12 noon until 1PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1PM with Pastor Dave Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
