Obituary of Rachel Snider

Mrs. Rachel Snider, age 92 of Barrackville passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Tygart Center in Fairmont, WV. She was born January 1, 1930, the daughter of Fred B. and Sarah F. Miller of Harrison County. She graduated from Lost Creek High School in May of 1948. She was recognized as the valedictorian of her class. In November of the same year, she married Aubrey E. (Jake) Snider, who preceded her in death in 1999. She was a member of Barrackville Church of Christ where she served as secretary for twenty years. Previously, she worked for Pitrolo Pontiac and the dental office of Dr. Hayhurst. She is survived by her two sons Rodney Snider and wife Janet and Steve Snider and his wife Dianne, both of Barrackville; three grandchildren Lori Gilbert and husband Brett, Rodney Snider II and wife Marcy, both of Barrackville, and Stephanie Miller and husband Andy of Fairmont; five great grandchildren Talon, Stephen and Lacy Miller of Fairmont, Macy Snider of Fairmont and Emily Weekly of Barrackville; one great great grandson Amias Miller; a sister-in-law Patricia Snider of Georgia, two special nephews who had always been a part of her life Eddie Cottrill of Sanfork and David Cottrill and wife Connie of Jane Lew and several other nieces and nephews. Rachel was also preceded in death by a grandson Aaron Lee Snider; one brother Fred Miller of Clarksburg; three sisters Bernice Berg of Parkersburg, Louise Cottrill and Jean Cottrill both of Jane Lew and a sister-in-law Leo Henline of Verona, VA. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker for her family. She will be greatly missed. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made in the mother’s memory to Amedisys Hospice Care or No Kill Shelter of the Humane Society of Marion County. Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The funeral will be celebrated in the funeral home at 1:00 PM with Evangelist Clinton Rowand presiding. The interment will follow at the Barrackville Cemetery.
