Obituary of Lillian Jaunita Moats

Lillian Jaunita Moats, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairmont. She was born June 24, 1940 in Salem, WV, daughter of Hester Lefevers Law and Earl Law. She was a 1958 graduate of Morgantown High School and worked for Thorofare from the age of 16 until they closed. She spent her time with her husband, James Lovell Moats who she married on November 16, 1974, until his death May 8, 2006, and her daughter Stella Marie Moats Street. She was a devoted grandmother living with her daughter Stella and her husband Patrick Street and being a very special Nonny to her granddaughters Madison Grace and Peyton Danielle Street. Lillian bowled for years in Westover and was a member of the Westover Community Association. She worked as a school cook until her retirement. Lillian is survived by her daughter and spouse, Stella and Patrick Street; son and spouse, James Timothy Moats and Charleen; sister-in-law, Maxine Jennings of Michigan; brother-in-law, Thomas Moats of New Jersey; grandchildren, Richard, Joshua, and Jesse Moats, and Madison and Peyton Street; great-grandchildren, Brody, Leelah, Carter, Cayden, Jayla, and Jayson Moats; lifelong special friends, Alice Jones and Marion (Genie) Tanton; her daughter’s friend, Tiffany Danielle Morris Dalton, who was like another daughter; nieces, Geraldine (Dee) Jack and her husband Richard and their son, Jonathan of Michigan and Beverly Crackovich and her husband Mick and their daughter, Jessica Baker and her husband Brandon of New Jersey; nephew, Craig Moats; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her fur babies, Snoopy, Sadie, and Dusty. The family would like to thank Abigail Nikkie Baker and Almeada Kathy Drvar who helped care for Jaunita in her daughter’s home and who became family. Nonny had a special place in her heart for Avva and Zach (Nikkie’s) children who became like her grandchildren and special neighbors, Curtis and Denise Burton and their children. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two siblings; a brother-in-law, David Jennings; and a sister-in-law, Roseann (Sopuch) Moats. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Lillian’s memory to the Westover Community Association, James L. Moats Memorial Freshman Scholarship, c/o Tim Moats, 80 Green Acres, Morgantown, WV 26501. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd & Jasper Streets, Rivesville, WV 26588, on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
