Obituary of John "Randy" Swann

John Randall “Randy” Swann, 68, of Rivesville, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born May 16, 1953 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late John William “Bill” and Patricia Ann Michael Swann. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Joeline Elaine Sloan Swann. Randy was a Christian by faith, and a 1971 graduate of Barrackville High School. He retired in 2017 from Fisher Auto Incorporated in Fairmont with over 42 years of service as a salesman, counterman, and later manager. Randy was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time on the family farm and riding horses. He liked to decompress after a long work day while cutting grass and spending time with his friends and family in his building/workshop/man-cave. Randy was a creature of habit and lived life to the fullest. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, often working on projects with them and teaching them life-long lessons. In addition to his wife, Randy is survived by his daughters, Randa and her husband Blaine Cook of Fairview, and Kara and her husband Cody Hart of Fairmont, his son, John Travis and his wife Ashley Swann of Fairmont, his brothers, Doug Swann of Rivesville, and Scott and his wife Donna Swann of Rivesville, and his sister Kay and her husband Ed Moore of Fairview. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isabella, Isaac, Haleigh, and Kevleigh, his special great-nephew, Bryce, his brother-in-law Warren and his wife Kathy Sloan of Conaway, SC, as well as several special cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Karen and Warren Sloan. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023 , Merrifield VA 22116. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street Rivesville, WV. Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 12 noon until 8PM, and on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 10AM until 11AM. The memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11AM with Reverend Stanley Merrifield and Pastor Isaac Harmon officiating.
