Obituary of Marvin Keith Boord, Jr.

Marvin Keith Boord, Jr., 55, of Kingmont, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, as a result of COVID related complications. He was born March 18, 1966 in Fairmont, WV a son of Marvin K. “Bill” Boord, Sr. and the late Sanda Lou O’Conner Boord. He is survived by his loving wife, of 24 years, Elizabeth A. Shoaff Boord. Marvin was a Lutheran by faith. He attended North Marion High School and graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1984. He was a veteran with the United States Navy having served as an aviation electronics technician Petty Officer 2nd class from 1985 until 1994 where he was stationed in Iceland, Puerto Rico, and Italy. Marvin worked with Mylan Pharmaceuticals in Morgantown at a maintenance electrician for over 13 years, and previously worked with Bombardier Aerospace Center as an avionics technician, and as an auto mechanic with Montgomery Wards after his military discharge. Marvin was a member of the United Steel Workers. He enjoyed helping his friends and family with home projects, he has fixed many campers, trailers, and garages. He enjoyed staying at his family camp in Wirt County. He loved his dogs, Theo and Leo, working crossword puzzles, reading science fiction books and watching movies with his kids, bowling, and working on his photography skills. Marvin adored his children and was very proud of the young adults they were becoming. He loved spending time with his family, and supporting them by often cooking family meals and supporting his wife as she finished nursing school. In addition to his wife and father, Marvin is survived his children, Maria Elizabeth Boord and Ian Michael Boord, both of Kingmont, his siblings, Arlene and her husband Tom Adkins of Harvest, AL, Penny and her husband Danny Perkins of Fairmont, and Brian Boord and his companion Amy Swisher of Kingmont, his mother-in-law Mary Anne and her husband Rick Cleavenger, his father-in-law, Allan and his wife Roberta Shoaff, his sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law, Anne and her husband Matt Baker, Laura and her husband Chris Lombardi, Gina Shoaff and her companion Steve Lauer, Rose and her husband Richard Pate, Andrew and his wife Jodi Shoaff, and Amy and her husband Christopher Buscemi. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Andrew Adkins, Josh Adkins, Ryan Perkins, Danielle Parker, Jimmy Baker, Becca Baker, Rachel Baker, Sofia Lombardi, Philip Lombardi, Jules Lombardi, Adelina Lombardi, Joseph Lombardi, Gaby Pate, Levi Pate, Grace Pate, Cyrus Shoaff, Nevaeh Shoaff, Ellie Shoaff, Harper Shoaff, Lainie Ozosky, and Hunter Ozosky, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial donations will be welcomed by the family and may be made to Ford Funeral Home. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends and family are welcome to visit, and asked to wear masks, on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 2PM until 8PM, and on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10AM until 11AM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11AM with Reverend Linda Muhly officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, WV, with the Marion County Veterans Council performing military graveside rites.
