Obituary of Erik Dwayne Rundle

Erik Dwayne Rundle, 41, of Key West Florida and formerly of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away February 5, 2022 in Florida. He was born March 17, 1980 in Fairmont, WV a son of Nancy Suzanne Huey Rundle and the late Donnie Joe Rundle. He is survived by a daughter Sadie Grace Rundle of Fairmont, WV, a brother and sister in law D.J. and Kim Rundle of Bunner Ridge Community, two sisters and two brother in laws Regina Lea and Steve Starn of Greenville, S.C. and Cynthia Dawn and Joe Mauch of San Francisco, CA, uncles and aunts Tony and Marlene Rundle, Tom and Peggy Rundle, Gary and Darlene Trippett, Tom and Caroline Hayhurst, Eloise Rundle, Stephen and Sharon Huey, and Cinny DeWitt, six nieces and nephews Cassandra Tarr and her husband Jake, Gabrielle Snyder and her husband Andrew, Avery Rundle, Matt Barrick, Sveva Mauch, and Gemma Mauch, a great-nephew, Jaxton Tarr, and a great-niece, Eleanor Snyder. Erik is a 1998 graduate of East Fairmont High School. He was Catholic by faith. He devoted over twenty years of his life managing the kitchen at DJ’s 50’s 60’s Diner. Although it was not his true passion, he was committed to the success of the family business. He recently worked at the Schooner Warf Bar and Restaurant in Key West, Florida. The love of Erik’s life was his daughter Sadie Grace Rundle, and he was committed to her more than anything. It was only until he felt Sadie was old enough that he followed his own dreams and headed south to the sun and sea of Key West, Florida. Erik was welcomed into a warm and accepting community of seekers and dreamers like him. He lived his best life there enjoying all the things he loved; the beach, taking his skiff around the island, fishing with his toes in the sand, sleeping on a boat and shots of Jameson. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 1-8 p.m. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 329 Maryland Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554 with Father Jojan Joseph, C.S.T. as Celebrant and assisted by Sister Stella Cronauer, C.S.J. A reception will follow in the church’s Marian Hall. A private committal service will take place at a later date in the Rundle Family Cemetery.
