Obituary of Betty Marie Offutt

Betty Marie Offutt, 91, of Fairmont, passed away in her residence on Friday, February 11, 2022 surrounded by her family. Betty was born June 24, 1930 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late William and Ethel M. DeVault Nichols. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Otto Offutt. Betty was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and retired in 1980 from the Owens-Illinois Company in Fairmont where she worked in the selecting department. She was a member of the Hopewell Homemakers Club and was a past volunteer with Fairmont General Hospital. Betty was very “crafty” and enjoyed making craft projects for her friends and family. She was an avid Mountaineer fan and enjoyed traveling to many away games. Betty was always ready for an adventure, ready to jump in the car at a moments notice. Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna Offutt; son, Donald Offutt and his wife Mary; grandsons, Jason Offutt and his wife Lara, Robert Offutt, and Rich Fancher; granddaughter, Julie Offutt; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Dakota Fancher and Kyleigh and Zoey Fridly; a brother, Fred L. Nichols; and a sister, Patricia L. Belknap. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Harry William Offutt; daughter, Lydia Dianne Offutt and her siblings, Dorsey W. Nichols, Raymond C. Nichols, and Harold Nichols, and Janet Morrison. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, to assist with final expenses. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Public Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 4PM until 8PM and on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11AM in the funeral home with Reverend Gary Steele, Pastor Claude Kinty, and Pastor Robert Barr officiating.
