Obituary of Felix Lunghi, Jr.

Felix Lunghi, Jr, 91, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Winchester Medical Center, VA. He was born November 19, 1930 in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late Felix Lunghi, Sr. and Cora Pellegrin Lunghi. His wife, Audrey Faye Lewis Lunghi, whom he was married to for 52 years, preceded him in death in 2010. Felix graduated from East Fairmont High School and from Fairmont State College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He was a member of the social fraternity Tau Beta Iota at Fairmont State. He was on the tennis team at Fairmont State College where he lettered, and later coached tennis while a teacher in Goshen, Ohio. He earned his Master’s degree in Education from West Virginia University. He retired from Philips Lighting in 1995. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont, and most recently, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, VA. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Army, stationed in Germany, during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and watching West Virginia football and basketball. He regularly walked at Morris Park. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed eating at various restaurants in Winchester. He was also an avid reader. He is survived by his sons, Mark J. Lunghi and his wife Nancy of Tampa, FL, Patrick M. Lunghi and his wife Angie of Stephens City, VA, with whom he made his home; two sisters, Florence Sansalone of Fairmont, and Mary Jo Cline and her husband Richard of Riva, MD;. grandchildren, Melissa Torrey, Nicolas Hernandez, Shannon Harris, Jonathan Hernandez, Casandra Lunghi, Shawn Lunghi, Elizabeth Lunghi, Tammi Pierce, Felicia Lunghi, Dominic Lunghi, Antione Lunghi, Stephan Lunghi, Joel Lunghi, Natia Lunghi, and Christian Lunghi; twenty-four great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Linda Sue Sutton of FL, Sylvia Jean Light and her husband Robert of Goshen, OH, and brother-in-law James Lewis and his wife Debbie of Cincinnati, OH. He leaves behind numerous and much loved nieces and nephews, and friends in Fairmont. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Anthony Lunghi, and son, Timothy Jay Lunghi. The family had entrusted the funeral arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 329 Maryland Avenue, Fairmont, WV at 11:00 AM with Father Vincent Joseph presiding.
