Obituary of Joyce Ellen Townsend

Joyce Ellen Townsend, 67, of Farmington, West Virginia died Monday, August 29, 2016 in the UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born January 24, 1949 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Charles Shroyer & Madge Hall Shroyer. She is survived by her husband Richard Allen Townsend of Farmington, WV. She is survived by 3 sons and a daughter: Tom Griffith of Morgantown, WV, John Griffith of Proctorville, Ohio, Tracie Tichnell and her husband Jeff of Shinnston, WV, and Rick Townsend and his wife Jessica of Shinnston, WV; 7 grandchildren: Lori Rice and her husband Brian, Heather Kuhn, Jake Kuhn, Danielle Tichnell and her companion Stefan Baker, Lindsey Tichnell, Aubrey Townsend, and Amber Griffith; a sister, Kim Osieczonek, her mother-in-law, Dona Townsend and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by a brother Charles Shroyer and a sister Sharon Trussler. Joyce was a retired accounting clerk for the Monongahela Power Company with over 20 years of service. She was a member of the Monongahela Girls Club, Mon Power Bowling League, and Mon Power Golf League. She was Baptist by faith and enjoyed camping & boating at Stonewall Resort with her family and friends. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 6PM until 8PM, on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 12 noon until 8 P.M., and on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 1P.M until 2 P.M. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
