Obituary of Guy A Peduto,III

Guy A. Peduto III, of Fairmont, WV passed away peacefully with family at his side on October 30, 2021. Guy was born on June 6, 1953 in Carnegie, PA to the late Guy A. Peduto II and Eva Zarroli Peduto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and David Peduto. Guy is survived by his wife of forty years, Donna Hoylman Peduto, brother Bill Peduto of Pittsburgh, sister-in-law Michelle Peduto, brothers-in-law Steve Hoylman and wife Mary, and Rod Hoylman and wife Becky. Guy is also survived by eight nieces and nephews that brought him his greatest joy, Stephanie Hoylman Sparacio, Lindsay Hoylman Vaughn, Nicholas Hoylman, Grant Hoylman, Liz Peduto Kantoris, Emily Peduto, Joe Peduto, and Sam Peduto, as well as six grand nephews and niece, Eliot, Mason, and Conor Sparacio, Wyatt Kantoris, and Manning and Leona Vaughn. Guy attended Canevin High School in Pittsburgh and graduated from the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University in 1980, where he met his wife and best friend, Donna Hoylman Peduto. During this time, Guy found his lifelong love of family, friends, faith and music. Guy called upon these four pillars throughout his life, through good times and bad, as his personal North Star that helped him through his challenges he faced throughout his life. All that knew Guy marveled at his positive attitude and determined spirit and recognized his love of life as well as family and friends. Guy’s 40 plus year career began in Pittsburgh where he was able to build his marketing and business development skills with General Nutrition Center, Thrift Drug and Blattner Bruner. Guy joined the INNOVA Commercialization Group in Fairmont in April 2006. INNOVA, an initiative of the WVHTC Foundation, is a venture development group providing business support, commercialization services, and early-stage investment capital dedicated to developing new technology ventures in West Virginia. INNOVA has worked with more than 500 companies and entrepreneurs seeking professional and/or financial assistance and has placed over $2.5 million dollars of direct investments into more than twenty-two West Virginia companies. Guy devoted his career to improving West Virginia's entrepreneurial ecosystem, and his efforts will continue to be recognized and be part of the entrepreneurial and start up landscape for many years to come. As a contributor to West Virginia’s technology-based economic development movement, he serves on both the board of directors and executive committee of TechConnect WV (WV Technology-based economic development), the Chemical Alliance Zone Incubator Advisory Board and Commercialization Network, and the WV High Technology Consortium Foundation Affiliate Leadership Council. Guy served on many corporate boards as well and was a member of the WV Growth Investment Fund (an Angel Investment Fund). Most importantly, Guy was a hands-on Christian and lived his faith actively by volunteering in his church, visiting shut-ins, and serving on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Walking Miracles, as well as numerous non-profit/charitable boards. One of his greatest loves was working with youth, especially his high school Sunday School classes. Guy continued to connect with these students as they moved forward in their lives and careers and was proud of their accomplishments. Guy is leaving a legacy of being a champion of the underdog, a friend to people in need, and someone that engaged in unseen acts of charity with zeal. His kindness and generosity are known statewide and beyond. He lived a life of true humility in the service of others.
