Obituary of Shelva Jean Ryan Dickey

Shelva Jean Ryan Dickey, 83, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday September 25, 2021. She was born in Moundsville, WV on April 17, 1938, daughter of the late Otis and Mary (Pelley) Ryan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Dickey Jr. in 1994, by sisters Marvel Ryan Wood and Pauline Ryan Pasco and brothers, Herbert Ryan and Thomas Ryan. Jean graduated from Moundsville High School. She was a former employee of FMC and retired from the Arbors at Fairmont. Jean attended Trinity Assembly of God Church and was a faithful servant in Women's Ministry for many years and attended Patti V’s Sunday School Class for nearly 30 years. She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. She was blessed to have a wonderful group of friends that loved the Lord like she did - Patti Vasicek, Ruth Shuman, Mary Lauderback and the late Liz Minico. She loved their time of devotion and lunch outings over the years. Surviving is her son, William Dickey and his wife Cindy of Fairmont, WV with whom she made her home with the past five years; daughter, Phyllis Susan Simmons and her partner James, Advance NC; grandchildren Theodore H. Simmons III and Miranda Simmons Douglas; great grandchildren Susie, Ashton, Camden and Charlotte Douglas and Dustin Simmons all of NC; three brothers, Robert Ryan (Mary Marg), Bud Ryan and William (Helen) Ryan all of Moundsville, WV; five sisters, Joy Jack of Cameron, WV, Nancy Carney, St. Petersburg FL, Shirley Tyler, Moundsville, WV, Margaret Whipkey Kingswoods, TX and Linda (Gerald) Sears of Orange, TX; many nieces and nephews including her close niece Beverly Moran, Fairmont WV. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses that took care of Jean over the years and would like to extend a special thank you to Dannie Hawkins who cared for her over the past five years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554.
