Obituary of Mary Thrash
Miss Mary Thrash, 91 years of age of Clarksburg, WV passed away at her residence on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. She was born December 23, 1924, the daughter of the late Dr. Carl and Martha Dawson Thrash.
Miss Thrash graduated from Lost Creek High School in 1942 and continued her education by graduating from Ohio University in 1946. She retired from the Harrison County Board of education as a secretary. Previously, she was employed as a legal secretary for Steptoe and Johnson.
Her lifetime hobby of photography and interest in travel and history prompted her to write her first book, West Virginia Courthouses in 1984. Several of her photographs were selected for publication in “Wild Wonderful West Virginia” magazine, Goldenseal magazine and in the Exponent Telegram Images section. Six of her photos used to hang in the lobby of the old United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Thursday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be celebrated in Stealey United Methodist Church, 521 Milford Street, Clarksburg, WV on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jennifer J. Roller presiding. The interment will follow at the Good Hope Masonic Cemetery, Good Hope, WV.
