Obituary of James Mack Richards

James Mack Richards, 84, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Manchin Assisted Living in Bridgeport, WV. He was born November 13, 1936 in Fallensby, WV a son of the late Charles Edward and Geneva Marshall Richards. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patricia Hawkins Richards. Jim was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fairmont. He was a 1954 graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg. He worked with Martinka Mine with over sixteen years of service as an outside supervisor. He had previously taught for over seven years with the Vo-Tech in Clarksburg, and later worked with Mountain State Auto Auction for over eight years transporting vehicles. Jim enjoyed traveling and had visited 49 of the 50 United States. He had enjoyed local league bowling and was an avid season ticket holder to both WVU basketball and football. Jim was a member of the Fairmont Moose Lodge No. 9. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his sons, Mike and his wife Karen Richards of Michigan, and Tim and his wife Dina Richards of Myrtle Beach, SC, his daughter Vicki and her husband Dave Crawford of Bridgeport, his step-son Steve and his wife Debbie Kennedy of Norcross, GA, and his step-daughter, Susan and her husband Larry Engel of Escondido, CA. He is also survived by his brother, Okey Richards of Ohio, nine grandsons, five step-grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, one step- great-granddaughter, one great-great grandchild, his-sister-in-law, Sandra Lipinski Hawkins, as well as his first wife and mother of his children, Jean Richards of Bridgeport. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Richards and Jack Richards, his sisters Betty Yoho and Charleen Richards, his step-daughter, Sharon Kennedy Tennant, his step-son-in-law, Michael Tennant, brothers-in-law, Arnie Yoho, Charles Hawkins, and Richard Hawkins, and his sisters-in-law, Catherine Richards, Marlene Richards, Becky Boyers Hawkins, Earlene Hawkins Jenkins, and Lynn Hawkins Waller, The family has entrusted the services to Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV. The family requests that masks be worn and social distancing practices be followed. Visitation services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 2PM until 5PM and 6PM until 8PM, and on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11AM with Reverend Brad Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
