Obituary of J. Peale Davidson

J. Peale Davidson of Fairmont, WV passed away on August 24, 2021. Peale was born in Montgomery, WV on July 14, 1937 to the late James and Leota Davidson. He graduated from West Virginia University with degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. After serving in the United States Army, he began his career at Monongahela Power Company and retired in 2002 after 38 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, following WVU basketball and football, playing bridge and family visits to the eastern shore. He was a registered Professional Engineer and was currently serving on the City of Fairmont Sanitary Sewer Board. He was a current member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers and the Kiwanis Club of Fairmont. He was Past President of the Fairmont Field Club, former Boy Scout Cub Master and an avid community volunteer throughout his entire life. He was a member of Life United Methodist Church in Fairmont. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Ginny; daughters Dianne Davidson and Kerryn (Mike) Story; son Jim Davidson; sister Debra (Bob) Dawson; grandchildren Ava and Garrett Story. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by an infant son, Brian Patrick Davidson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peale’s memory to The Davidson Family Scholarship at Fairmont Senior High School (PO Box 91, Fairmont, WV 26555) or Life United Methodist Church (3000 Technology Drive, Fairmont WV, 26554). The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Life United Methodist Church, 3000 Technology Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The memorial service will be held in the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Larry Buckland officiating. A private committal service will be held for the family at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont at a later date. The family requests all visitors wear masks to visitation and the memorial service.
