Obituary of Nancy June Clelland Corrothers

Nancy June Clelland Corrothers, 91, passed away on August 9, 2021, at home after an extended illness. She was born in Dallas, Texas June 9, 1930, daughter of the late John Keith and Mattie Elizabeth Martin Clelland. She is survived by step grandsons, Cory and Casey Slovak of Ohio and cousin Carla, wife of Joe Caruso of Clarksburg and their children (and grandchildren): J.C. and Valerie Caruso (Anthony and Catherine), Bill and Lucy Caruso (Ruby and Rocco), Mike and Kim Caruso (Lily and Meadow), and Jennifer and Miah Weiker (Julianna and Josie). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step daughter Susan Slovak. Nancy was a graduate of Fairmont State with a degree in Home Economics and was a member of Gamma Chi Chi Sorority of which she served as alumni president. Nancy retired from West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources as a licensed social worker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 70+ years. Nancy was a kind and giving soul. Nancy was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and a faithful volunteer. She was a past president of Quota Club International. She delivered Meals on Wheels and directed Red Cross Blood Drives for many years. Nancy loved to travel and was an avid reader. She was also a talented seamstress and a prize-winning quilter. Nancy volunteered at Prickett’s Fort and was a past board member. She was a proud descendent of Morgan and David Morgan. Nancy will be missed by her beloved cat Annie and her adopted pets Skye and Roman. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the Harrison County Senior Center, Amedisys Hospice, and her excellent caregivers: Tricha Fury, Samantha Hutson, Misty Holt, Faith Dixon, Dolly Wine, Sherri Lawson, Heather Quickle and her neighbor Belinda Woody. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 2 p.m. with Reverend D.D.
