Obituary of Marjorie Jane Leighton
Mrs. Marjorie Jane Leighton, 95 years of age of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 17, 1926 in Lexington, VA the daughter of the late Ira and Ida Conner Billheimer. Jane is survived by her husband Joseph Claude Leighton Sr. They had celebrated sixty-nine years of marriage. She is also survived by two sons Joseph Claude Leighton Jr of Pittsburgh, PA and Lisle Christopher Leighton of Buckhannon, WV; one daughter Mary Elizabeth Leighton of Huntington, WV; three grandchildren Michael Joseph Leighton of Bedford, PA, Brianne Rebekah Leighton of Newport News, VA and Andrew Scott Leighton and wife Channa of Orange Beach, AL; three great grandchildren Kenlee Leighton, Charlee Leighton and Michael Leighton; seven nieces and three nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother Gordon Billheimer; two sisters Mildred Ray and Betty Windon; one nephew Richard Windon and one niece Sara Billheimer Harrocks. She graduated from Montgomery High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in education, home economics from West Virginia Institute of Technology. She was a faithful member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the Bridgeport United Methodist Women. She and Joe were also members of the Bridgeport Country Club where she enjoyed her weekly bridge game with friends. She was a wonderful homemaker who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family is extremely grateful to the staffs of Harmony at White Oaks and Elmcroft of Maplewood for the very special care they provided to Jane.
