Obituary of Patricia "Pat" J. Mullett

Patricia J. Mullett (Pat), age 90; beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed peacefully from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday July 3, 2021. She was at home surrounded by her family. Born March 13, 1931 in New Martinsville, WV, the daughter of Drexel Marion Johnston and Maude Mae Bartrug. Pat was proceeded in death by 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. Pat is survived by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Mullett who she married on September 7, 1952, and their five children: Charles Randal and wife Lucinda of Berryville, VA; Amy Elizabeth and Chip Ernst of Morgantown, WV; James Drexel and Kristen Butler of Pittsburgh, PA; Suzanne Mary and Ed Taylor of Martinsburg, WV; Christopher Paul and Trina Runner of Barton, MD; and 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to their own children, Pat and Chuck hosted Rafael Camargo, an AFS exchange student from Colombia, South America in 1971, he became a permanent part of their family and resides in Detroit Michigan with his wife Ceci. Pat went to Magnolia High School in New Martinsville WV and graduated with the class of 1949. She attended Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1952. After working many years as a Registered Nursing and raising her 5 children, she became a licensed real estate agent in the state of Pennsylvania. Pat was an avid golfer and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association of the Fairmont Field Club. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, bridge club, book club, and working crossword and word puzzles of all kinds. She was a Master Gardner and participated in the Leadership Marion Program. She supported the West Virginia Symphony, United Way of Marion County, and was a member of the Fairmont Chamber Music Society. During her 2 year battle with cancer Pat received wonderful care from the doctors and staffs of Fairmont General, Mon General, WVU-Ruby Memorial Hospital and Cancer Center, WVU Home Health and Hospice, Marion County Rescue Squad, private caregivers and Visiting Angels. Pat was beloved by all who knew her and she will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in memory of Pat to the Patricia J Mullett Nursing Impact Scholarship, Fairmont State Foundation, 1300 Locust Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554, or to a community organization of your choice. In keeping with her wishes, Pat was cremated. Visitation with the family will be held at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Rebecca Mihm officiating.
