My life has been blessed in so many different ways by having Aunt Ruth as part of it. It started 71 years ago when she was in college. I stayed a night in the dorm with her. All the girls there made sure I was having fun. I was 8 years old. When bed time came, she said there is one other thing we need to do and that is to write a letter to Walter James. You see she really wasn't my aunt yet and she wrote to him each night.
Another special time was when Nancy Kay was born. I stayed a couple weeks with them to help. She showed me the love a mother has for a child. We knew every wrinkle on that baby.
Then there were all the times of washing and drying dishes over a hot stove at grandma Ellyson's. The long interesting walk down the road. She was always teaching and showing love.
Taking the trip to CA on Amtrak with her was the greatest of all.
I can't name the ways she influenced my life and all the fun we had together.
Thank you, Aunt Ruth, for being an older sister and mother to me. I love you dearly.
