Obituary of Clifford "Pooch" Hoffman

Clifford “Pooch” Hoffman, 81, of Rivesville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Genesis Healthcare, Tygart Center in Fairmont. He was born September 14, 1939, in Rivesville, WV, to the late Clifford and Stella Kuzniar Hoffman. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Wilfong Hoffman. Pooch was a graduate of Rivesville High School and served two years with the United States Army following his graduation. He worked for Eastern Associated Coal Company for over 19 years as a supply clerk. He later worked for Lance Crackers in Fairmont for many years as a salesman. Most recently, he owned and operated Pooch’s Hotdog Stand in Rivesville for over 20 years. Pooch enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards, and bowling for which he was inducted into the Marion Taylor Bowling Council, Bowler’s Hall of Fame, in 1999. He was proud to have bowled both a 300 and a 299 during his bowling career. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Joel “Butch” and his wife Tina Hoffman, his daughters, Noelle Hook, and Courtney and her husband Josh Corwin, his grandchildren: Sean Clark, Andy Clark, Kyle Hook, Olivia Hook, Samantha Hoffman, A.J. Hoffman, Caleb Hoffman, Kylie Corwin, and Zachary Corwin, as well as his three great grandchildren. Pooch is also survived by his sister, Betty Ann and her husband John Burgess, and his brother, Martin Hoffman. In addition to his parents, Pooch was preceded in death by his son, Jarrett Hoffman, his daughter, Dawn Hoffman, his brother Gary Hoffman, and his sister Diana and her husband Jim Hess. The family would like to thank the Genesis Healthcare, Tygart Center and WVU Home Healthcare and their staffs for the love and concern provided to Pooch while in their care. The family has entrusted Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 407 Second Street, Rivesville with the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 2PM until 8PM and on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 11AM until 1PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 1PM with Reverend Rich Buonaiuto officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont, WV.
