Obituary of Zelma Evelyn Cox Hart
Zelma Evelyn Cox Hart, 96, of Fairmont and formerly of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016, at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born on February 5, 1920 in Market, WV, a daughter of the late Brent Clyde Cox and Margaret Pearl Childers Cox. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oren Victor Hart.
Zelma attended Doddridge County High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking pies for her family, keeping a genealogical record of the Cox and Hart families and working in her church. She attended Harmony Methodist Church in Doddridge County, Broad Oaks United Methodist Church in Clarksburg and First Baptist Church in Fairmont.
Zelma is survived by her son, Victor Larry Hart of Fairmont as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by her brother, Willard Blair Cox; her sisters, Helen Dolores Berkhouse and Loreta Queen King; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Zelma’s memory to First Baptist Church, 901 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554, or to the institution of your choice.
In accordance with Zelma’s wishes, all services will be private. Interment will take place in the Masonic Memorial Park in West Union, WV.
