Obituary of Betty L. Wamsley Guy

Betty L. Wamsley Guy, 92, of Fairmont, West Virginia died Friday, May 7, 2021 in the Fazio’s Elder Care in Monongah, WV. She was born November 1, 1928 in Randolph County, WV the daughter of the late G.W. Wamsley and Beulah Lloyd Lower. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 ½ years, Harry Edward Guy Jr. on April 9, 2004. Mrs. Guy was a homemaker in her own home and an active member of Gateway United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and a member of the West Virginia Travelers, Inc. Betty helped for many years sewing for the Busy Bee Band and Honeybees. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughters: Deborah K. Guy of Arlington, VA, Jennifer and her husband Sam Snyder of Rock Lake Community, two granddaughters Jenna Snyder and Leiren her husband Andrew Wentz, both of Flemington, WV; great grandchildren Landon Butcher, Reagan Harper Wentz, Haedyn Jade Futton, and Kenslie Grace Futton; a sister Leah Jean and her husband James Gorman of Shinnston, WV; a brother Robert and his wife Jane Lower of Huttonsville, WV; a dear niece Mary Beth Furbee; and great nieces and nephews Jill and her husband Jimmy Miller and their children Christian and Alana, and James E. and his wife Tammy Herlihy, Gary Wamsley and Joe Wamsley; as well as a cousin Willetta S. Barker. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Emerson and his wife Norma Wamsley and Doyle Ray Lower; a loving aunt and uncle, Minnie and Fay Snyder, with whom she made her home for several years; her step father Burley Lower; her in laws, Bess and Harry Guy Sr.; her sister in law Genevieve Guy and her husband James F. Herlihy Sr.; and nephews, James F. Herlihy Jr. and Donald “Butch” Furbee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gateway United Methodist Church, 301 Diamond Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Edin officiating.
