Obituary of Esther Margaret Satterfield Harris

Mrs. Esther Margaret Satterfield Harris, 98 years of age and formerly of Rivesville, WV passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah, WV. She was born July 2, 1922 at Jordan, WV the daughter of the late Basil and Anna Stachia Butcher Satterfield. She was preceded in death by her husband Adain D. Harris in 1965. She is survived by a daughter Carolyn Harris Henderson and her husband Donnie of Rivesville, WV; three grandchildren Steven Henderson of Rivesville, W V, Cheryl Henderson of Rivesville, WV and Lana Yoho and her husband Aaron of Morgantown, WV; a great grandson Damian Paul Yoho; a sister-in-law Betty Satterfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a son Gary Lee Harris; a sister Edna that died at birth and three brothers Glenn, Dorsey and Howard Satterfield. Esther began her working career at Owens Illinois in Fairmont. She later worked for several retail department stores in downtown Fairmont. She was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and was part of the Jolly Mixers Bowling League at Valley Lanes. She loved to garden and she shared her “green thumb” and produce with her family and friends. Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second and Jasper Streets, Rivesville, WV on Thursday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Stanley Merrifield presiding. The interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Morgantown, WV. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
