Obituary of Walter Andrew Furbee Jr.

Walter Andrew Furbee Jr., 58, of Fairmont passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a courageous battle with an extended illness. He did so without complaint and continued to take care of his family. He was born in Fairmont on January 15, 1963, a son of the late Walter Andrew Furbee Sr. and Mary Kathrine Gerken Furbee. Walter is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann Sampson Furbee; sons; Travis Vance and his wife Marlie of Shinnston, Trevor Vance of Shinnston, and Bryce Furbee of Fairmont; grandson, Korbin Vance of Shinnston; a brother, Jeff Furbee and his wife Heather of Clemmons, NC; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by an infant brother, Stephen Wayne Furbee, and an infant sister, Peggy Sue Furbee. Walter was a 1981 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, was Christian by faith, and worked as a department manager at Lowes. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and spending time with Korbin, Arayna Metheny (Jelly Bean), and Hazley Rae Metheny. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Monday, March 15, 2021, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. A committal service will follow at Clermont Cemetery in White Hall, WV.
