Obituary of John B Pitrolo
John B Pitrolo, 62, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 after a courageous eight and one-half year battle with cancer, at United Hospital Center surrounded by his family. He was born December 26, 1958 in Fairmont a son of the late James Lewis and Lucille Calabrase Pitrolo, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Suzie Brooks Pitrolo.
John B was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Fairmont Catholic Grade School as well as a 1977 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Fairmont State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. John B was part owner with his brother Jim of James Chevrolet in Mannington where he also served as the parts and service manager. He had previously worked as an engineer with the Eaton Corporation, and later finished his working career with Swanson Industries as an inside salesman. John B was a member of the Knights of Columbus #942 of Fairmont as well as the National Corvette Restorer’s Society. John B loved Corvettes and collecting Chevrolet memorabilia and antiques.
In addition to his wife, John B is survived by his daughter, Heather and her husband Kevin King of Fairmont, his grandchildren, Shelby Brooke King and her fiancé Keegun McCullough, and Jordan Patrick King, all of Fairmont, as well as his brother James L. “Jim” and his wife Karen Pitrolo, Jr of Hull, MA, his sisters, Janice and her husband Dan Cota of Indianapolis, IN, and Joyce Pitrolo Keefover of Fairmont. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Paul Brooks of Ft. Collins, CO, his sister-in-law, Lora and her husband Drew Prosko of Farmington, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and his special golden retriever, Zuko.
In addition to his parents, John B was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, “Nonnie” and “Papal” Oliverio who helped to raise him, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Margaret Brooks.
Memorial donations may be made to Fairmont Catholic Grade School, 416 Madison Street, Fairmont or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Building Fund, 406 Alta Vista Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance to John B’s wishes cremation services have been held. Friends and family may visit at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 329 Maryland Avenue, Fairmont, WV on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10AM until 11AM. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held in the church at 11AM with Father Jojan Joseph, C.S.T. as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont at a later date.
