Obituary of Timothy Joseph Hershman

Timothy Joseph Hershman, 64, of Rivesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh with his family by his side. He was born July 3, 1956 in Fairmont a son of the late James L. and Ida Flori Hershman. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Yvonne Hawkins Hershman. Tim was a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Fairmont and formerly of the Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Rivesville. He was a 1974 graduate of Rivesville High School. Tim had served as the maintenance supervisor of the Town of Rivesville for many years. Tim was a “hometown” boy, and Rivesville as well as the friends and family within Rivesville meant the world to him. He enjoyed taking care of the residents and lending a helping hand to his neighbors. He especially loved visiting the grandkids in New Jersey and spending countless hours watching their many sports activities, as well as sitting on the beach and enjoying the shoreline. In addition to his wife, Tim is survived by his daughter, Melissa and her husband Michael Grippo of New Jersey, his son, Josh Hershman of Rivesville, his grandchildren Alex, Isabella, and Liliana Grippo, and Jayden Hershman. He is also survived by his brother, Jim and his wife Valerie Hershman, his brothers- in-law, Chuck and and his wife Sheila Hawkins, Randy and his wife Debbie Hawkins all of Rivesville, his sister-in-law Clara and her husband Mike Damron of Austin, Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family has entrusted the cremation services to Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 206 Second Street, Fairmont. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, memorial services will be held at a later date.
