Obituary of Linda J. Brown

Mrs. Linda J. Brown, 82 years of age of Barrackville, WV passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at West Virginia University Hospitals, Ruby Memorial in Morgantown, WV. She was born August 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Albert Lee and Alma Carver McCoy. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry James Brown on December 18 2020. She is survived by a daughter Trudi Brown, MD of Johnstown, PA and two grandchildren Stephen James Suhayda of Lillington, NC and Julia Nicole Suhayda of Johnstown, PA. She was also preceded in death by a brother Jackie McCoy and a sister Patricia McCoy. Linda graduated from Fairview High School. For several years she worked in Cleveland, OH at Higbees Department Store in women’s clothing. She returned to Marion County and worked at Alcan Aluminum and then became employed at Fairmont State College for nearly forty-years. Many students and faculty at FSC will remember her kindness and help in the Registrar’s Office. She was a member of Barrackville United Methodist Church. Important in her life was her family, especially her two grandchildren. She enjoyed taking car rides in the country and eating hot dogs from Woody’s. She was an avid National Football League fan and cheered on both rival teams, the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She will be missed by her family and close friends. The family requests donations be made in Linda’s memory to Barrackville United Methodist Church, PO Box 186 Barrackville, WV 26559. Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from noon – 3:00 PM. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 3:00 PM with Reverend Stephanie Bennett presiding. The interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum.
