Obituary of Leonard Dalron Cain

Leonard Dalron Cain, 94, of Fairmont, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 24, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born August 14, 1926 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late James Dee and Florence J. Holdsworth Cain. He is survived by his loving wife, Haseltine B. Woofter Cain. Mr. Cain was a Protestant by faith and a 1944 graduate of East Fairmont High School. He was a Veteran with the United States Navy having served during World War II in the Central Pacific with the occupation of Japan. He retired from Philips Lighting Plant in Fairmont with over 33 years of service as a Maintenance machinist in the seal beam department. Mr. Cain was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #624, the B.P.O.E. #294, as well as the Moose Lodge No. 9, all in Fairmont. He received his twenty-year pin for his long-time service as a Scout Master to Troop #16 in Meadowdale, he was also Assistant Scout Master to Troop #1. Mr. Cain and his wife enjoyed their retirement time in Florida at both Sebastian and Rock Ledge, FL. He loved watching the WVU Mountaineers and enjoyed seeing their basketball victory on the afternoon before his death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, David Cain of Fairmont, and Leonard H. and Kimberly Cain of Fairmont, and his daughter Sondra Jean and Joe Lambiotte of Fairmont, as well as his three grandchildren, Jamie Cain, Jade Audia and Stephen Audia, and one great-grandchild, Andrew “Mase” Vanscoy, of Fairmont. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. A public graveside committal service will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the W.V. National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV at 1PM with Reverend Jim Zinn officiating and the Marion County Veterans Council providing military rites (masking is required).
